Best AI Interview Assistants in 2027

The interview tools worth your time going into 2027, from mock-interview coaches to live assistants, compared on what they help with, what they cost and where your data goes.

By Published 6 min read

Most of what an AI interview assistant can do for you happens before the interview: rehearsing answers out loud, getting feedback on structure and delivery, and working through coding and system design problems under time pressure. For 2027, the strongest free practice tool is Huru for behavioral and role questions, interviewing.io's AI Interviewer is the best free option for coding and system design, and Aced (formerly Exponent) is the most complete course library. If you also want live help during interviews where it is allowed, Final Round AI bundles practice and a copilot in one subscription, and Natively is the option that keeps your data on your own computer.

This guide is about the whole process, weighted towards preparation. If you only care about real-time help during the call, our interview copilots guide goes deeper on that.

The short answer

  • Free behavioral practiceHuru: unlimited mock interviews and scored feedback, free for job seekers
  • Free coding practiceinterviewing.io: an AI Interviewer for coding and system design at no cost
  • Courses and peer mocksAced (formerly Exponent): a question bank, courses and free peer mock interviews
  • Practice plus a copilotFinal Round AI: mock interviews, debriefs and live help under one Pro plan
  • Private, on your own machineNatively: a live assistant for your mock and real interviews, with local transcripts

Practice tools and live assistants are different products

"AI interview assistant" covers two kinds of tool that are often sold together. A practice tool plays the interviewer: it asks you questions, records your answers and tells you what to improve. A live assistant, often called a copilot, listens to a real conversation and suggests what to say while it is happening.

The distinction matters for two reasons. First, practice builds the skill you take into the room, while a live assistant only helps for as long as it is running. Second, practice is allowed everywhere, while live help is only acceptable where the employer allows it. Anthropic's guidance for candidates is a clear example: use AI to prepare, but no AI in live interviews unless they say otherwise. Assessment platforms check too; HackerRank's Proctor Mode looks for external AI assistants and overlay apps. Our copilots guide covers those rules in detail.

One practice tool many guides still recommend is gone. Google's Interview Warmup now redirects to a general interview tips page, which has done so since January 2026, and that page suggests practising with Gemini Live instead.

How we evaluated

We read each product's official site, pricing page and help pages on 27 October 2026. We did not take mock interviews on these services or run benchmark tests on them, so nothing here rates the quality of their feedback from our own use. Where a price only appears inside a checkout, we say so instead of guessing.

We weighted five things, in this order:

  1. Which rounds it prepares you for. Behavioral, coding, system design, or delivery and confidence.
  2. How you practise. Spoken answers with feedback, a coding pad, peers, or paid human interviewers.
  3. What it costs a job seeker. A free plan you can keep using counts for more than a short trial.
  4. What happens to your recordings. Whether the vendor says it trains on them, and whether you can keep them local.
  5. Whether it also helps on the day, where live help is permitted.

Because preparation carries most of the weight, the practice tools come first and the live assistants last. That is an ordering of the criteria, not a score.

Practice tools, reviewed

Huru: best free behavioral and role practice

Platforms
Web, iOS app, Chrome extension
Free option
Free plan, with limitsFree for job seekers with unlimited mock interviews and feedback; only organisations pay.
Paid plans
Enterprise plans for universities and organisations, priced on request
How it works
Mock interviews recorded with your camera and microphone, scored per answer

Huru plays the interviewer for more than 240 roles, records your answers through your camera and microphone, and scores each one out of 100 against five qualities. Its FAQ answers the question most free tools dodge: there is no paid plan for job seekers. Only universities and organisations pay. That makes it the easiest recommendation for anyone preparing for behavioral and screening rounds.

Strengths

  • Free for job seekers, with unlimited mock interviews
  • Answers scored on relevance, structure, specificity, impact and articulation
  • Web, iOS and a Chrome extension that turns a job post into a mock

Drawbacks

  • Feedback comes from AI, not a person
  • Coding practice is not its focus
  • Retention of your recordings is not stated on its homepage

Choose it if you want to rehearse spoken answers as often as you like without paying. Official site.

interviewing.io: best for coding and system design practice

Platforms
Web
Free option
Free plan, with limitsThe AI Interviewer for coding and system design practice is free.
Paid plans
Anonymous mock interviews with senior engineers from $179 a session
How it works
Browser sessions in its own coding pad, with audio and chat, no video

interviewing.io is known for anonymous mock interviews with engineers from large tech companies. Alongside those, it offers an AI Interviewer for coding and system design that is free to use, with problems drawn from Beyond Cracking the Coding Interview and written feedback afterwards. Sessions run in its own version of CoderPad with audio and chat, so the format matches what you will see in a technical screen. Pair it with our software engineer interview questions for material to drill.

Strengths

  • A free AI Interviewer for coding and system design, with written feedback
  • Paid anonymous mocks with senior engineers when you want a human
  • Practises in a real coding pad, as an actual interview would

Drawbacks

  • Human mocks start at $179 a session
  • No video, so no feedback on presence
  • Web only

Choose it if you are preparing for software engineering loops and want practice that looks like the real thing. Official site.

Aced (formerly Exponent): best course library and peer mocks

Platforms
Web
Free option
Free plan, with limitsFree account with free peer mock interviews (Pramp now runs on it); courses and coaching are paid.
Paid plans
Membership and 1:1 coaching; prices only render at checkout and could not be confirmed
How it works
Courses, question bank, peer and coached mock interviews, AI feedback on practice answers

Exponent now operates as Aced, and Pramp's free peer mock interviews have moved onto Aced Practice. A free account gets you the peer mocks; the courses, question bank depth and one-to-one coaching are paid. It covers more role types than any other tool here, including product management and data science, and its system design material is a good complement to our system design interview page.

Strengths

  • Courses for software, product, data and machine learning roles
  • Free peer mock interviews (Pramp now runs on Aced)
  • AI feedback on practice answers

Drawbacks

  • Membership and coaching prices are only shown at checkout
  • Peer mocks depend on who you are matched with
  • Web only

Choose it if you want a structured curriculum as well as practice. Official site.

Yoodli: best for how you sound

Platforms
Web
Free option
Free plan, with limitsStarter plan with 5 sessions in total, not per month.
Paid plans
Pro $8 a month and Advanced $20 a month, both billed annually
How it works
Roleplay practice in the browser; also gives feedback on recordings you upload

Yoodli is a communication coach rather than a question bank. It runs roleplays, including interviews, and gives feedback on delivery: pace, filler words and structure. The free plan is 5 sessions for the life of the account, so treat it as a trial. Pro ($8 a month billed annually) allows up to 10 roleplays a week, and Advanced ($20) removes the limit and keeps your sessions out of AI training.

Strengths

  • Live AI roleplays and feedback on uploaded recordings
  • Low annual price ($8 a month for Pro)
  • Advanced plan excludes your data from AI training by default

Drawbacks

  • The free Starter plan is 5 sessions in total
  • On Starter and Pro, session data may be used to improve the platform
  • Monthly-billing prices are not shown

Choose it if your answers are fine on paper but you ramble, rush or fill pauses. Official site.

Final Round AI: best paid practice and live help in one plan

Platforms
macOS 14.4+ and Windows desktop app
Free option
Free plan, with limitsFree plan covers preparation only (résumé, job-description parsing, checklists). No free live sessions and no trial.
Paid plans
Pro from $25 a month (the full price table only renders in the browser; check it at checkout)
How it works
Desktop app with floating windows; no bot joins the call; can capture the screen for coding questions

Final Round AI's free plan handles the paperwork of preparation: your résumé, job description parsing and a checklist. Practice interviews, AI debriefs and the live Interview CoPilot are all in Pro, listed from $25 a month. If you are going to pay for one product, it covers the most ground; if you are not, the free tools above give more practice.

Strengths

  • Practice interviews and automatic debriefs
  • A live copilot in the same subscription
  • Free plan parses the job description and builds a prep checklist

Drawbacks

  • Practice interviews need Pro, from $25 a month
  • No free trial of live sessions
  • Cloud processing only

Choose it if you want one subscription that takes you from preparation to the interview itself. Official site.

Big Interview: best guided video curriculum

Platforms
Web
Free option
No free optionNo free plan; a 30-day money-back guarantee instead.
Paid plans
$39 for 30 days, $99 for 3 months, $299 lifetime
How it works
Video answer practice with AI feedback and a lesson curriculum

Big Interview is widely licensed by universities and workforce programmes, so check whether your school or employer already gives you access. For individuals it costs $39 for 30 days, $99 for three months or $299 for life. It pairs lessons on answer structure with recorded video practice and AI feedback.

Strengths

  • A lesson curriculum plus video answer practice with AI feedback
  • One-time options, including $299 lifetime
  • 30-day money-back guarantee

Drawbacks

  • No free plan
  • Web only
  • Behavioral focus; little for coding

Choose it if you want to be taught a method for behavioral answers, not only to practise them. Official site.

Live assistants for the interview itself

Where an employer allows AI help, or for mock interviews you run with a friend, a live assistant keeps your notes, stories and the job description in front of you. Two are worth knowing about from a preparation point of view; the copilots guide reviews ten.

Natively: best private live assistant

Platforms
macOS and Windows desktop app
Free option
Free for personal useFree for personal use. Bring your own API key (your provider bills you for usage) or run a local model through Ollama (no API charges). A short trial of the hosted Natively API needs no card.
Paid plans
Pro licence $39 a year or $79 once; hosted Natively API plans $8 to $35 a month
How it works
Desktop app that hears both sides of the call from your computer; no bot joins the meeting

Natively, which we make, is a desktop app for macOS and Windows. It is not a practice platform: it does not ask you questions. What it does in preparation is sit beside a mock interview, with a friend or on a peer platform, and show you what a strong answer would have included, so you can compare it with what you said. Its transcripts stay on your disk, which makes reviewing your own practice sessions easy. It is free for personal use with your own API key (your provider bills you) or a local model through Ollama; the Pro licence ($39 a year or $79 once) adds résumé and job-description context. See how it handles behavioral rounds and coding rounds.

Strengths

  • Hears both sides from your computer; no bot joins the call
  • Reads coding problems from the screen as well as from speech
  • Your own API key or a local model; transcripts stay on your disk

Drawbacks

  • No mock interviewer: you supply the practice partner
  • Desktop only
  • Résumé and job-description context need the Pro licence

Choose it if you want live help in mock interviews and permitted interviews without a subscription or a vendor holding your recordings. See Natively's plans.

Verve AI: best free hosted mock-and-live combination

Platforms
Web, macOS and Windows desktop, mobile
Free option
Free plan, with limits3 copilot sessions a month of 15 minutes each, plus 5 AI mock interviews.
Paid plans
Standard $44.99 a month ($16.99 billed annually); Pro $84.99 a month ($34.99 billed annually)
How it works
Listens to the interview and detects questions; screen-region capture for coding problems

Verve AI combines mock interviews and reports with a live copilot. Its free plan is one of the few that includes both, with no card. Standard is $44.99 a month or $16.99 a month billed annually; Pro is $84.99 or $34.99.

Strengths

  • Five free AI mock interviews
  • Three free 15-minute live sessions a month
  • Desktop, web and mobile

Drawbacks

  • 15 minutes is shorter than most interviews
  • Monthly prices are high without annual billing
  • No retention statement on its main pages

Choose it if you want to try both AI mocks and a hosted live assistant before paying for either. Official site.

Preparing for each kind of round

Behavioral and screening calls

Write five to eight stories (a conflict, a failure, a project you led, a hard deadline) and rehearse them out loud until each fits in about two minutes. Huru and Big Interview are built for exactly this; Yoodli then tells you how you sound. Our guide on using AI in a job interview covers what to prepare.

Coding rounds

Practise in a shared editor while talking through your approach, because interviewers grade the explanation as much as the code. interviewing.io's AI Interviewer and Aced's peer mocks both reproduce that format. Our technical interview preparation guide has a study plan.

System design

System design rewards structure: requirements, estimates, a high-level design, then trade-offs. Aced's courses and interviewing.io's AI Interviewer both cover it; worked examples such as our Uber system design walkthrough help you see the shape of a good answer.

Privacy: what happens to your practice recordings

Practice tools record your face and voice. Yoodli says plainly that on its Starter and Pro plans session data may be used to improve the platform, and that Advanced and above are excluded from AI training by default. Huru's homepage does not state a retention period. If you would rather keep recordings of yourself off other companies' servers, the alternative is to practise with a person and keep the transcript yourself, which is what a local assistant such as Natively allows.

Questions people ask

What is the best AI interview assistant in 2027?

It depends on the stage. For free practice, Huru gives job seekers unlimited mock interviews with scored feedback, and interviewing.io's free AI Interviewer is the best option for coding and system design. If you want practice and live help in one paid plan, Final Round AI covers both under Pro from $25 a month. For live help that keeps your data on your own computer, Natively runs on your own API key or a local model.

Is Google Interview Warmup still available?

No. Its address has redirected to a general interview tips page since January 2026, and that page suggests practising with Gemini Live instead.

What is the difference between an AI interview assistant and an interview copilot?

A practice assistant plays the interviewer: it asks questions, records your answers and gives feedback. A copilot listens to a real interview and suggests answers while it happens. Practice is allowed everywhere; live help is only appropriate where the employer permits it.

Can I use an AI assistant during a real interview?

Only if the employer allows it. Some do, many do not. Anthropic, for example, encourages candidates to prepare with AI but asks for no AI help in live interviews unless it says otherwise, and assessment platforms such as HackerRank check for external AI tools and overlay apps.

Which AI tool is best for coding interview practice?

interviewing.io's free AI Interviewer gives you coding and system design problems in a real coding pad with written feedback. Aced (formerly Exponent) adds free peer mock interviews and paid courses.

Do practice tools keep my recordings?

Practice tools record your voice and often your face. Yoodli says session data on its Starter and Pro plans may be used to improve the platform, while its Advanced plan is excluded from AI training by default. Huru does not state a retention period on its homepage. Check the privacy policy of any tool before recording yourself.
